Bad Happened Last Night

Last night my aunt Sheila died from a long bout with cancer. She and my uncle two days before her death celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversay. They grew up and older together. My Aunt Sheila was that rare person that never spoke harshly or mean of anyone, had a positive thought for all even when the contrary was obvious. Anyone who ever met Aunt Sheila immediately felt better for having met her and those lucky enough to have become friends with her will feel a little piece of their soul darken and disappear.

Aunt Sheila was a brilliant woman, genius thinker, mother to 4 daughters, friend, wife and partner to Uncle Will. He will be devastated at the loss of this most special woman in his life. Aunt Sheila was responsible for my lifelong nickname of Markdalark. Everyone laughs at it but, everytime someone says it Aunt Sheila flashes through my thoughts. I am going to miss her specialness in so many ways.

Good-bye Aunt Sheila, I know you are now out of pain and getting the peace and serenity you have always deserved. Hopefully you will spend the rest of eternity creating and thinking of ways for us to be better in our earthly lives. You are a remarkable woman and I am going to always miss you. Thank you for having loved me.
